Benefit Mall offers payroll, benefits and compliance options to help make sure your business finances run smoothly. They provide a range of services, products, tools and resources, as well as running regular events, with tailored options to suit your budget.
There are payroll services for employer groups (from micro to more than 250 employees), as well as CPA’s and accountants. BenefitMall.com's support is award-winning and they offer full service or online software. They also guarantee that their payroll processing is accurate, and will pay any tax penalties you incur due to their error.
Benefit Mall’s services and software are tax compliant and constantly updated to make sure they’re in line with the most recent changes. Their team and partners are also trained to be up to date with state and federal law.
Sadly, the Benefit Mall website is a bit of a bore, and not particularly easy to work your way around. It’s full of text and the subsections don’t necessarily seem to relate to what we thought they would. It’s a relatively minor complaint, but still important when you’re trying to understand exactly what’s on offer.
The Benefit Mall PayLoad software integrates with internal and external partners, we’re assured, although they don’t go into a lot of detail about how compatible the various systems are. It can interface with G/L, HRIS and 401(k) systems, if you’re currently using them, but that’s the extent of the information they provide.
Using the software, you can process unlimited earnings and deductions, as well as setting up an unlimited number of direct debits. In addition, you will receive regular updates to make sure everything is being processed accurately, and adding new members of staff is simple. The software allows a few additional tasks to be performed (such as producing and printing reports) but nothing is particularly outstanding among those extras.
If accurate time and attendance records are important to you, BenefitMall.com also provides these features in its PayLoad software package. You can also get free help over the phone, any time you need it. This could be very useful if you’re new to the system or payroll more generally, and feel that you might need a bit of extra support.
The website has an events section, where you can opt to attend lunch and learn sessions, or days designed for employers who wish to use Benefit Mall. These events include online training sessions, which can be accessed through GoToMeeting. This is a great idea as it means you can receive all the answers you need, plus professional training, without having to travel.
Given the amount of effort going into customer care, BenefitMall might be best suited to businesses that don’t necessarily have a lot of experience with payroll, particularly if they’re considering expanding in the near future. However, it's not completely clear how well their systems will integrate with various pieces of existing accountancy or payroll software, so it would be worth finding this out before signing up. Whilst the website can be somewhat vague, their tailored options ought to be able to provide what you need, whilst their support is a strong back-up in case anything should go wrong.
