OnPay (by Payroll Center Inc.) is an online payroll and HR service for small businesses. With mobile options and varying access levels available, it offers you a greater level of control than many other similar systems. You can print paychecks, make direct payments, organize schedules and keep automatic watches over employees who take time off. You can also calculate, file and pay your payroll taxes.

The flexibility and control provided by the onpay system are two of the key reasons to consider it. After a simple initial set up, the accounts manager is able to allow or deny access to particular parts of the database. So, they might allow an employee to view their own payslips online, but might deny them access to any other information. Similarly, they might provide restricted access to members of a management team, only allowing them to view documents which are relevant to their roles.

On Pay provides mobile options so you can stay up to date even when you’re away from the office. The basic package on offer allows you to keep records and make payments for up to 10 employees, but you can add extra members for just $1 each per month. This makes it an affordable option, and very adaptable if you hire or fire.

For under $4 you can receive an end of year W-2 on your employees, which is printed and sent to you. There aren’t any other additional features which require a fee, and the basic package includes most of the tools you would hope to find in a payroll processing service such as this.

Because of the monthly fee, you are able to perform an unlimited number of pay runs, so this is ideal for a company which might pay multiple employees in smaller chunks, several times per month. You can also make direct deposits easily, and all this information is stored in order to calculate your tax payments.

Taxes are handled on your behalf, if you wish. The system calculates your payroll tax, producing a report and filing it, then allowing you to easily pay the required amount. Expert support is also provided if you need it, either via the telephone or through email.

Thankfully, OnPay integrates with accounting software, including Quickbooks Online and Xero Accounting. There’s also a tool which allows you to export your data to Quickbooks Desktop, so it works both ways. 

Several other small but effective management features include the ability to create multiple pay schedules, which is really useful if your employees don’t necessarily get paid at the same times each month. OnPay offers excellent value for money and it’s easy to add or reduce the number of employees. They also offer a 1 month free trial if you want to test it out for yourself.
